‘The Purple Album’ is expected for released on May 19 via Frontiers Records, and just as the title implies will feature re-imagined versions of songs from the Mk III and Mk IV incarnations of Deep Purple which featured a then-aspiring lead vocalist by the name of David Coverdale.
Whitesnake’s first studio album featuring newly appointed guitarist Joel Hoekstra from Night Ranger fame has apparently been underway since last fall, since Hoekstra stated that the band’s upcoming effort will feature the same style of characteristic blues rock that Whitesnake is well remembered for.
