There remains an audience of dedicated KISS fans who have openly detested guitarist Tommy Thayer’s appointing into the definitive Spaceman persona originally created and embodied by Ace Frehley, and none more so than the former band member himself. Frehley recently voiced his frustration towards the situation during a conversation with Eddie Trunk, where the Space Ace penned Thayer as a copycat of his approach.

Tommy Thayer is now most readily known as the current guitarist and vocalist for rock icons Kiss, however before his somewhat controversial venture into the Spaceman persona Thayer was a pivotal member in the glam metal band Black ‘N Blue. The band found considerable commercial success following the release of their eponymous debut studio album, which spawned multiple rock radio hits featuring the solid guitar work and harmonizing backup vocals of Thayer.

Following original guitarist Ace Frehley’s announcement that the founding lineup of KISS would not perform at this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley issued a statement announcing that the group will not perform in any form.

Following the unfortunate loss of Ronnie Montrose in early last year, the entire rock community was devastated: so much so, that a commendable list of talent united together to pay homage to the guitarist who had been such a profound inspiration. Some of these musicians were Ronnie’s former band mates, while others were merely impacted by Montrose’s music and appeared to show support.
