K.K. Downing Feels His Time as a Member of Judas Priest Had “Run It’s Course”

Right in the middle of Judas Priest’s final world-spanning Epitaph tour in 2011, dedicated heavy metal listeners were stunned to hear that longtime guitarist K.K. Downing was announcing his retirement from the band. Up until that point, fans hadn’t seen a version of Judas Priest that didn’t feature Downing in the lineup, as the guitarist remained alongside Glenn Tipton as the band’s dueling axe section for more than four decades.
