Attempts to bring together the classic 1983 lineup of Dokken are once again underway.
Attempts to bring together the classic 1983 lineup of Dokken are once again underway.
Centered around members recognized for their contributions to Stryper, Dokken, Foreigner, Ozzy Osbourne, David Lee Roth and White Lion, Sweet & Lynch are certainly more than just the two musicians who share the band’s namesake, however sharing the role of frontman here are lead vocalist Michael Sweet and guitar virtuoso George Lynch.
Centered around ex-Dokken guitarist George Lynch, King’s X lead vocalist and bassist Doug Pinnick, and drummer Lay Ruzier of Korn, heavy metal supergroup KXM has been making quite the impression since the release of their self-tilted debut album earlier this year, and their impact continues to dilate with the band’s new music video for “Faith is a Room.”
Gathering members known for their work in such prominent groups as David Lee Roth, Dokken, Foreigner, Stryper, Ozzy Osbourne and White Lion, Sweet/Lynch shows a formidable collection of heavyweight rock musicians offering the first evidence of their existence as a collective with a memorable tribute to the upcoming anniversary of the tragic and impactful 9/11 attacks.
Earlier this year, a fantasy team comprised of three heavyweight musicians became reality when guitarist George Lynch of Dokken and Lynch Mob fame, bassist/vocalist Doug Pinnick from King’s X and Korn drummer Ray Luzier released their debut studio album as the all-star collaboration KXM. Dedicated hard rock fans were happily taken back by the effort, however Lynch recently revealed that despite the trio’s natural chemistry it was somewhat difficult composing new material.
In the face of this typically unconquerable setback, alongside the monumentus anticipation which naturally comes hand-in-hand with taking a heavy metal fan’s fantasy team and making it a reality, what KXM does accomplish with their eponymous debut album is applaudable. While retaining subtle elements of their own unique approaches, the members of KXM frequently venture into new musical territory while maintaining a consistently concrete outcome.
Today marks the release of KXM’s anticipated eponymous debut studio album, and while the majority of rock guitarists would be use this as a prime opportunity to give their calluses a rest and wait for the positive reception to come pouring in, Lynch is already looking forward to the next project.
Comprised of renowned guitarist George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob, T&N), King’s X singer/bassist Doug Pinnick and drummer Ray Luzier of Korn, KXM are one of the latest heavy metal supergroups to begin making their impact on the music scene. Their eponymous studio album is slated for release next week, however you don’t have wait until then to hear KXM’s first lead single.
KXM, which features renowned guitarist George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob, T&N), King’s X singer/bassist Doug Pinnick and drummer Ray Luzier of Korn, have announced their eponymous debut studio album will be released on March 11th via Rat Pak Records. The effort was produced by Chris Collier, who has previously worked with such names as Lita Ford and Lynch Mob.
The riff master behind such iconic rock bands as Dokken and Lynch Mob, George Lynch has been prominently mesmerizing the eyes and ears of the hard rock music world since the late ‘70s. He began his lifelong musical career as the lead guitarist for a small LA band known as The Boyz, and would play alongside such now prestigious rock groups as Quiet Riot and Van Halen.
