Not one to remain too far away from controversy for a prolonged period of time, former Queensryche lead vocalist Geoff Tate has revealed that his incarnation of the heavy metal band will continue forward under the moniker Operation: Mindcrime. The news holds a degree of irony to it, considering Geoff Tate’s Queensryche will begin their farewell tour the same night as this announcement (July 30).

In an attempt to bring together an impressive compilation of characters who have become synonymous with the heavy metal community, the 02 Academy in Brixton, London, will host a special one-night concert which features the aptly titled ‘Metal All Stars.’ The current roster currently includes a cast of more than a dozen prominent musicians from throughout the genre, and is advertised to boast an even more fulfilling lineup by the December 16 performance.

Original Queensryche lead vocalist Geoff Tate has announced the final tour dates of his controversial formation of the band. The news of this farewell tour arrives as a result of recent judgement in the case involving the now renowned split which resulted in the existence of two Queensryche lineups, both of which released new studio albums last year and continued to tour regularly.

Before entering the Arcada Theater in St. Charles, I had previously seen that “other” lineup of Queensryche during an outdoor music festival which included Jack Russell’s Great White. It was only fair that I would take the time to attend the show when Geoff Tate and his supergroup came into town to perform ‘Operation: Mindcrime’ in its entirety.
