This past Monday marked the first annual Ronnie James Dio ‘Stand Up and Award’ Ceremony at the Avalon in Hollywood, California. The event was held to acknowledge those within the rock and metal music community who were influenced by the late Ronnie James Dio, and to assist in funding research against the demon that is cancer.

Currently the forthcoming Ronnie James Dio shows such renowned artists as Alice Cooper, Metallica, original Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach, Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, Lemmy Kilmister from Motorhead, Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan, Dave Grohl and Scorpions paying tribute to the late great metal icon.

Despite being independently released, ‘Magica’ still sold well over 100,000 copies. Unfortunately the original pressing of the album has since then gone out of print, and die hard Dio fans aren’t the kind of people who will easily fork up their original editions. So many followers have yet to experience one of this iconic singer’s most creative works.
