Marilyn Manson explored new territory with his new studio album ‘The Pale Emperor,’ which showed the alternative metal vocalist fully embracing a blues/hard rock hybrid approach that resonated with even unfamiliar listeners.

This is a sound which Manson says he would like to continue to explore on future albums, including a what he calls a “completed unexpected” collaboration with Korn lead singer Jonathan Davis.

“As a matter of fact, that’s some of the plans of the style of music that I’m working on right now. I don’t know what it’ll turn into,” Manson explained during a recent Q&A session on Reddit.

“Some of it will be with Jonathan Davis I think because he has plans of doing something similar – something that might even cross over the boundaries of being more Southern-sounding.

Manson went on to add: “I did record ‘Smells Like Children’ in Mississippi, which is where the blues came from, so there might be something more acoustic and blues in my future. I like the rawness of it.”

Aside from his work with Jonathan Davis, the shock rocker says he’s also been recording music with Johnny Depp and that there’s a “strong possibility” that he will work with Billy Corgan from The Smashing Pumpkins in the near future.

That latter point may come as the result of Marilyn Manson’s upcoming ‘End of Times’ summer tour with The Smashing Pumpkins, which is currently scheduled to begin on July 7 in Concord, Virginia.
