Judas Priest

Judas Priest are preparing to usher in the new year with a newly remastered pressing of a classic album, ‘Turbo.’ Scheduled for release on February 7 via Sony Music, this newly pressed version of ‘Turbo’ will hit shelves as a 3 CD and 150g vinyl with a steep amount of bonus material for Priest’s audience of heavy metal advocates.

Along with the remastered nine original songs, the ‘Turbo’ reissue includes two discs of archival live tracks captured in Kansas City during Judas Priest’s 1986 ‘Fuel For Life’ tour in support of the effort. The set list (included below) has a strong emphasis on songs off of ‘Turbo,’ while also throwing in early classics like “Victim of Changes” and “The Green Manalishi.”

While their 1986 studio album was considered controversial among heavy metal listeners for it’s stark change in sound, Judas Priest’s ‘Turbo’ is still considered a classic from the era and songs such as the title track are regularly worked into the band’s current set lists. Other songs, such as “Parental Guidance” and “Out In the Cold” are lesser known cuts from the record which show the members of Judas Priest trying their hand at a more glam metal inspired approach.

The band offers: “The 80’s is considered to have been the best decade for heavy metal – Judas Priest roared through it and at the half way point went into unchartered territory with ‘Turbo’. Always believing that metal should have no boundaries, Priest challenged themselves taking on board new technical inventions to create fresh ideas and push their sound forward.

“The combined songs show another side of Priest’s range of creativity that captures a theme and energy infused with the over the top sensibilities of that era. The ‘Fuel For Life’ tour certainly encapsulated the decadence of the times! ‘Turbo’ remastered and accompanied by a pedal to the metal live recording from Kansas reveals Priest on high octane – Raising fists and devil horns to the next level.”
