British power metal heavyweights Dragonforce have their eyes set on a near-month-long North American trek in support of ‘Reaching Into Infinity,’ the band’s seventh full-length studio album that was recently released via Metal Blade Records.
Slated to commence this Friday (June 7th) in San Francisco, California and run through July 29th in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, the trek will also include several major festival appearances for Dragonforce. The tour includes stops at Chicago Open Air which features Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Amon Amarth and Megadeth; and the Rise Above Festival in Bangor, Maine, which includes appearances from Korn, Stone Sour, Seether and Crobot.
Dragonforce bassist Frederic Laclercq also recently opened up about the writing process for ‘Reaching Into Infinity,’ explaining how the metal band wanted to broaden their sound with this new record.
“I think we have proven that playing fast was something we were good at, so this time I wanted to bring even more diversity into our music,” said Leclercq. “It’s great to challenge ourselves instead of staying in a comfort zone, and I really wanted to experiment with [lead vocalist] Marc [Hudson]’s vocals. I think people are going to be surprised at his brutality!”
‘Reaching Into Infinity’ is the first Dragonforce album to feature Italian drummer Gee Anzalone. Recording sessions for ‘Reaching Into Infinity’ largely took place at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden with producer Jens Bogren.
